HELGTANKAR/ WEEKEND THOUGHTS

Hej 

Sitter i den sköna morgonsolen och låter funderingarna flöda. Träffade en av de eventuella konstnärer som skall få ta hand om de färdiga maskerna under en månad senare i höst. En fantastisk musiker och performer som det skulle vara så spännande om hon kan. Samtal ger alltid nya perspektiv till det man sysslar med. Att formulera sina tankar kring ett projekt som "Maskernas Resa" för att göra de tydliga,

 begripliga och lockande innebär ofta att de blir tydligare för en själv. Samtalet leder sedan ofta vidare till nya funderingar. Just detta sa

mtal gjorde mig medveten om hur ett uttryck och ett material ger oss en viss tidsup

plevelse. Hantverket att göra en mask i trä lockar oss på många sätt till en viss tidsuppfattning, som på många sätt kopplas till tradition, till historien. Det känns rätt.... men samtidigt krävs motsatsen. Konstrasten som lockar oss till nuet. Det var en ny tanke som väcktes genom detta samtal, och en bra tanke.  Just nu pågår denna resa i historien, genom traditionen och hantverket --- sen ska jag på vissa sätt locka er in i nuet. Konstnären som tar masken i sin hand skall inte styras till en specifik tid, utan skall så mycket som möjligt  uppleva masken som tidlös. Vad är de kontraster jag skall välja att lägga in, som ändå samspelar med alträets ådringar och yta ? Kontrasterna som lockar oss att både uppleva traditionen såväl som nuet ? Tack för denna tanke !  Att skapa ett konstverk är på många sätt som att lösa en gåta.... samtidigt är varje lösning lika mycke

t början på en ny undran.  I morgon sätter jag mig igen i min verkstad och arbetar på min mask, snart kommer det en ny film !!!!

e has the possibility to join the project. The conversation with others are always bringing new aspects into your own thoughts. To try to formulate and describe a project for others always brings you to see new things. Trying to make your own thoughts clear, understandable and tempting for the listener often makes oneself aware of something you haven't thought about. The questions or comments the listener is of such a help. In this particular conversation she made me aware of time ..... on how the process itself and  the choice of material brings us into a certain feeling of time. The process of making a wooden mask, the handcraft and the material itself brings us in many ways into the traidition , the history .... something I really want, but in the same time I need the contrast...the contrast that leads us into today. It was in many ways something I haven't really thought about, but made clear during our talk. At this moment I lead you on a path in tradition and history, but it's also important that I also lead you into today, to our moder

n time in order for the artists that will host the masks to be as free as possible when they look upon the masks, to be inspired in some way. What are the contrasts I want to use, contrasts that still works with the alder wood ? The contrasts that leads us into tradition as well as into today? To create a piece of art is like trying to solve a riddle, with the exception that every solution leads into new questions, .....  that's the mystery of art! Tomorrow I will be back in my studio, back to carving ... tomorrow night there will be new film coming.... I wonder how this weekend of thoughts will be transformed into the carving !
